Teachers Wanted

The congregation is always looking for men who would like to join the Sunday morning Bible class team! If you would like to teach a lesson or two on Sunday morning, or perhaps a lesson series on Wednesday night, please, mention it to one of the elders.

Heart of Texas Bible Camp

The Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in Brady, TX. will be conducting two sessions this summer at the Heart of Texas Bible Camp. This children’s camp provides a week of fun, fellowship and Bible learning for kids of all ages.

 Session One: For grades 4-7 (June 5th – June 10th)

 Session Two: For grades 8-12 (June 12th – June 17th)

The congregation will be providing the funds for any children/grandchildren of the congregation to attend the camp. If you have a child who is interested in attending, please, contact Joe for the necessary forms and information.

Cherokee Day

On May 7^th, the traditional BBQ will be served from11 AM to 2 PM in the pavilion. This is a sit-down lunch where people can reconnect with friends and listen to some of the Home’s young people share their stories.

There will be a directed, short tour of the campus in one’s vehicle to stop and greet the children, the graduating seniors, board members and other staff. A cottage can be viewed and groceries unloaded at a certain point, Our congregation has opted to send money, so the Home can purchase groceries at a whole sale price.

HAPPY CHURCH FAMILY NEWS

There was great rejoicing amongst the angels in heaven and her earthly family, when last Sunday, April 24th, Anastasia Darnell was baptized by her father, Evan Darnell, in Glen Rose, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Ken and Gail Darnell.  May God bless Anastasia’s life’s journey as one who loves and follows Jesus Christ.

Holly Schroeder, granddaughter of Bill and Mary Kay Flanary, and her percussion group from Sherwood High School, Sherwood OR, are 2022 Percussion champions. They traveled to Dayton OHIO for WGI (Winter Guard International) after winning finals in Oregon. After 3 days of judged competition they emerged victorious over 38 teams with the 4th highest score ever in their division. WAY TO GO HOLLY!!

2022 CHRISTIAN FAMILY RETREAT

My family participated in the 2022 Christian Family Retreat in Port Harcourt between the 14th and 19th of this month.

I got back to Ogoja today after driving 450km and taught Bible study before getting to my house. The retreat affords participants to have quality time with the family, pray with other families, learn parenting skills and work on our bonding skills with our wives. It started 7 years ago and its main aim is to build stronger ties within the family and amongst families.

On Sunday, all the 12 families (58 persons) worshipped at the church meeting at Rumokwuta where I was privileged to serve as the Bible class teacher. My lesson was on THE COST OF BEING A CHRISTIAN. We were refreshed physically and spiritually.

Now I am set for serious work. I shall be speaking to youths this Friday in Calabar, my state capital on Internet Evangelism. On the 30th of April, I shall be speaking to Adults in a lectureship on 1Cor 15:58 at the church meeting in my village Adagom. For 4 days between 3rd and 7th May, I shall be leading my evangelism team to a town called Bebi near the famous Obudu Cattle ranch for a church planting exercise.

Then by 12th of the same May, Lord willing, I shall be speaking at another town called Mbok in their annual lectureship on a topic CHRISTIAN AND CULTURE, KNOWING THE BOUNDARIES.

Between 27th and 30th May, we are planning a mega evangelism hoping to lead us in planting a congregation where I go to preach every Monday. We make the plans and await the approval from the almighty.

Thank you for the huge support that you blessed me. It has helped me meet up with all my numerous engagements. Keep me in your prayers for good health, and safety at all times. Just this evening, one very strong and vibrant brother died in a ghastly bike and tricycle accident in Taraba state. He will be greatly missed for his zeal and love of the work of the Lord all over the northern states of Nigeria.
