I found an interesting quote in my files recently. I don’t know who to attribute it to, but it is really thought provoking. The quote is this:

“Socrates taught for 40 years, Plato for 50, Aristotle for 40, and Jesus for only 3. Yet the influence of Christ’s 3-year ministry infinitely transcends the impact left by the combined 130 years of teaching from these men who were among the greatest philosophers of all antiquity; yet, some of the finest paintings of Raphael, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci received their inspiration from Him. Jesus wrote no poetry; but Dante, Milton, and scores of the world’s greatest poets were inspired by Him. Jesus composed no music; still Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, Bach, and Mendelssohn reached their highest perfection of melody in the hymns, symphonies, and oratories they composed in His praise. Every sphere of human greatness has been enriched by this humble Carpenter of Nazareth.”

Indeed, Jesus in His short time on the earth has impacted every avenue of human existence. We even changed the way we record time based upon His coming to the earth. This is the year 2023 A.D. The “A.D.” comes from the Latin phrase “anno domini” which means “in the year of the Lord.”

Galatians 4:4 reveals to us that Jesus came at the exact right time in history. The Father in heaven had it all planned out. His mission for coming to the earth was to save sinners (Luke 19:10; 1 Timothy 1:15). The way He accomplished this task was unlike anything anybody could have possibly imagined. Jesus lived sinlessly perfect, allowed Himself to be nailed to a cross, and bare all of the sins of all of mankind for all time. His self-sacrifice was the only way to save mankind from eternal destruction. Even though He appeared weak when He was killed, He was in total and complete control throughout the entire process.

Jesus came to make a difference in your life. He came to put the pieces in place so that you can make it to heaven. He came to bring blessings to your life now and forevermore. Are you really allowing Him into your daily life? Are you showing others that He has made a difference in your life, helped you attain the fruit of the Spirit more and more? Shaped your character into more “God-likeness”? Have you really come to Him?
