Cherokee Home for Children News

Hooray! School has started again. We sent off 25 good – looking kids to their first day of the 2015-2016 school year. With the school schedule comes football practice, football games, early morning cross country workout, karate class, piano lessons, tutorials, and homework. The karate class is being taught by a good friend to Cherokee Home to those of our children who are interested. The kids will be able to advance as far as they choose with the Sensei’s help. Please pray for our kids to have a great school year that is marked by achievement, good behavior, and fun.

The Cherokee Home for Children 2015 Auction benefitting the kids will be Saturday, September 26. If you have not been before, you don’t know what you are missing! If you come, you will find something that you “need”! All proceeds go to meet the needs of our children. A hamburger concession stand will be available for lunch. Bidding begins at 9:00 A.M. If you have any questions, call the office at (325) 622-4201 or (800) 689-3292.

Mark 10:13 -15 13 “And they were bringing children to Him that He might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

Our Lord was indignant when His disciples hindered the children. Our congregation has long supported the Cherokee Home for Children financially. We need to continue to do whatever we can to help, and encourage these children and all others to receive the kingdom of God. Pray for them daily. Do what you can. For the elders, Ken D.
