We have been blessed to support World Christian Broadcasting for many years. The following will update you on what they have been up to. Keep WCB in your prayers. For the elders, Ken D
From WCB CEO Andy Baker, Summer 2021
COVID has impacted families, churches, businesses, and ministries in many ways over the last 16 months and it has impacted our work at World Christian Broadcasting as well. Yet, in many ways, this has been our best year ever. During that period, we have heard from more listeners and website searchers. Excellent broadcasts in 7 different languages, websites for each language service with fresh, new content, and the creation of an app for our Spanish language outreach, streaming programs 24/7. The recording of the entire Bible in Chinese is available for Chinese listeners all over the world which has enabled us to contact more people than ever before. The first month of the Chinese Bible being available, listeners from 43 different countries read portions of Scripture.
Even during the year filled with COVID restrictions and guidelines to follow, in many ways World Christian Broadcasting had one of its best years. We completed a several month project to get a 40-foot container to Madagascar with many spare parts and replacement equipment for our station MWV. We upgraded our Franklin Operation Center studios in the fall of 2020, a project that needs to be done every 7-10 years with us being in year ten. Two matching gift challenges were met enabling us to complete these two very important projects. The Lord protected our Madagascar station during the 100 MPH Cyclone Eloise with minimal damage.
Our seven Senior Producers and their team study the areas that will receive their broadcasts and plan the programs each area needs to hear. They produce 49 new hours of programs every week. You would be proud of the work they do. Would you pray for our Senior Producers every day as they write their own scripts and plan the entire content of their broadcasts?
CHINESE TEAM: We launched the reading of the Bible in Chinese in January with reports of 2,146 listeners from 49 countries hearing 3,833 chapters of the Bible within the first couple of weeks. Over the last 12 months, 21,046 unique visitors have contacted our Chinese website.
RUSSIAN TEAM: Our feature article this month, written by Charles Caudill, tells the great work our Russian Team is doing. In addition, our Russian website has been very busy with 7,947 unique visitors coming our way over the last 30 days and 77,620 unique visitors over the last 12 months.
ARABIC TEAM: During 2020 about 21,711 audio programs were heard on SoundCloud that streams our Arabic broadcasts along with broadcast from MWV and Voice of Hope antennas. Followers on our Arabic Facebook page doubled last year to 10,549.
SPANISH TEAM: Our Spanish broadcasts are heard every day on MWV radio from Madagascar, The Happy Voice, With The Open Bible, La Voz Alegre App available on social media, and videos from the website. Millions throughout South America, from Brazil to Mexico, with focus on Cuba (Shine 800 AM radio) are learning about Jesus every day.
ENGLISH, ENGLISH FOR AFRICA, PORTUGUESE TEAM: We are equally excited about the great number of contacts we are making with our Portuguese, English, and English for Africa broadcasts.
We do shortwave broadcasting, and we do it very well. But that is not all we do. This is an exciting time to be a part of WCBC ministry. The more people we contact the humbler we become. If we have the ears of the entire world, we want to be saying what the world needs to hear. Would you please pray earnestly for WCBC? Thanks so much for the friendship we enjoy.
