Our monthly Fellowship Meal has been rescheduled for that Sunday. Hosts and hostesses will be: John C. & Ida Brewer, John G. & Tina Brewer, Tommie Sledge and Linda Lively.
DINNER TOGETHER
Bill Flanary tells us that we will start the monthly dinners again in September.
Look for the sign-up sheet on the table in the back of the auditorium.
STILL SOME WAYS OFF . . . .
. . . but we have already received a reminder that the “Auction Benefitting the Cherokee Kids” will be on September 30th, at the Cherokee Home for Children. There is a flyer on the bulletin board with requests for LARGE items. See if you can help!
BEAUTIFUL FOOTNOTES
As the apostle Paul closes the powerful letter to the Roman church, he spends much of the final chapter addressing various personal greetings to fellow laborers in the cause of Christ including in Romans 16:12 “Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord.”
We don’t know Tryphaena, Tryphosa or Persis, but what is important is that Paul did, that the Roman church did and most important that the Lord God does. We do know that they were loved and cared about by those who knew them as workers for the Lord.
In our world of billions of people, who are alive now and the countless numbers who have lived on in the history of this world, try to imagine the number of beloved fellow workers who have labored for the cause of Christ and shared the good news with people they encountered. The vast number we may never know, a tiny number we could even know only by name and yet we are blessed to be given the opportunity to help support a handful of beloved brethren who seek daily to spread the gospel of grace with the lost. We know them, the congregation here at Highland Lakes knows and supports them and more importantly the Lord knows and supports them too.
Your material support has allowed us as a congregation to help them spread a spiritual blessing from the Lord in various parts of the world. We are proud our congregation is so supportive of these brethren. Your prayers, thoughts and encouragement makes this work even more productive. Please continue to all you can to encourage these fellow laborers in the kingdom. For the elders, Ken D
George Funk and his son Quintin in the labors with the Gospel Chariot Ministry which spreads God’s word village to village and country to country in Africa.
Richard and Becky Emperado who work to take the gospel to the entire nation of the Philippines and establish and strengthen the Lord’s church there.
Dennis and Sharon Welch who live as disciples of our Lord among the people of Cambodia to make disciples of those who in turn will seek to make more disciples.
PJ Krupalini and his wife Ruth who labor daily to spread the love of God, His saving word and the kingdom of God in their native India.
Sylvester Imogoh, Sylvanus Obi and Mike Udam and their families, who preach and teach and write and speak and use World Bible School to reach the people of their nation of Nigeria with God’s word and save souls and strengthen God’s church.
