BEAUTIFUL FOOTNOTES
“I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:23 (ESV)
As part of our efforts in support of the spreading of the Gospel in Nigeria, we also help our Nigerian brother Mike Udam to reach the lost and build up believers. What follows is the 2nd p art of his first quarter report for 2017. Please keep Mike, his family and all of the church in Nigeria in your prayers. For the elders, Ken D
I am delighted to forward to you the quarterly report of my work in the vineyard of the Lord. Sincerely yours Mike Udam
INTERNAL CONGREGATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: During the period under review, the congregation where I serve has grown both qualitatively and quantitatively. Five souls were added to the church and one person who backslided since 1989 returned to the fold amidst great joy.
On the 4th of March 2017, the church organized a youth seminar which drew participants around Ogoja and beyond. Over 100 young people participated and the theme was centered on FILLING YOUR BLANK SPACE. We had great speakers who exposed the youths on how to fill the gaps the existed in their lives, so as to live for Christ alone. No baptism was recorded that day but the next day being a Sunday, we had two baptisms arising from that seminar.
Numerically we have from 27 in July 2013, to an average of 200 each worship day. Our giving has increased. As at today, the church has taken up the responsibility of supporting a preacher to serve a neighboring congregation. My members could not believe that in their own very lifetime, they could grow to even stand well to support another congregation.
We are currently fixing tiles on our floor. We have scheduled a women gospel meeting for 27th May. We are also preaching from several standpoints. I lead a team of brethren to preach door to door most Saturdays that I am available (my most speaking appointments are during the weekends.)
We are working very closely with the WBS Lagos team to coordinate WBS enrollment here in Ogoja. So far our WBS team is involved in monthly evangelism which is yielding great results.
PERSONAL CHALLENGES: I am willing to work and I am doing the work to the best I know I can. Apart from praying God for good health and a functional car to move about for his mission, the challenge I have is fueling the car based on my numerous speaking schedules. At this point I want to thank Doug Wheeler who has most often supported me with resources to cushion my traveling expenses.
God bless you all. Keep me in your prayers and may the Lord bless and keep you safe as you work in his vineyard. Amen
