“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:18, 19).
These words were written in a black time in the history of Israel. The people were in captivity, it seemed like they had lost everything they thought would last forever. God’s remedy for them was quite simple. Don’t focus on the past and what you think you have lost . . . look ahead to what God has planned for you!
As we enter into 2016 it might be easy to feel overwhelmed by changes we are seeing in our world. But, we must never forget that God is still on His throne. He is planning new and glorious victories for His people!
WHAT DO WE DO?
“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13, 14).
Let’s anticipate a great year of service for God in 2016! The God we serve does not disappoint! — Joe
