News from the Food Pantry

Our volunteers at the Food Pantry are staying busy. You may have noticed in the bulletin that last week 144 & this week 153 individuals were fed. Times are hard for many in our zip code region. Those who are served by us must be documented as living in this area, in Kingsland.

It takes quite a bit of money to purchase food items at the Food Bank in Austin and also at HEB locally. In the last 3 months, our congregation spent $486.23 in January, $625.20 in February, and $588.34 in March, for a total of $1,699.97 for the first quarter of 2013.

In March alone, 159 households with 414 individuals were served. Twenty-one of those households were new. 2,423 lbs. of food was purchased and an additional 1,485 lbs. were bought at additional sources. Brethren & sisters, we have a lot of people in our community who are in need of basic sustenance!

We are rejoicing that we are able to help those who are in need. We are only doing what God expects us to do in our time, what He has always expected His people to do in previous days.

“He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but whosoever is kind to the needy honors God” (Proverbs 14:31).

“All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I (Paul, also Barnabas) was eager to do” (Galatians 2:10).

You can help the Food Pantry with these items: tooth paste, tooth brushes, dish detergent and canned meats.

A Special Prayer Request

Dear praying brethren,

Eveling Garcia, wife of BICA/Nicaragua’s director, Erick Garcia, has a very aggressive bladder cancer. The doctors said that God needed to be with her for her to overcome. I beg you to beg God on behalf of Eveling Garcia, the mother of two little girls. If you have any medical contact, help us to find a chemotherapy medicine called—bcg, a liquid injection to fight cancer. Maybe you know a doctor, pharmacist, or hospital that can help. Call me if you can help at 281-252-4444. Please, please pray!

A son of the Great Physician,

George Hall

Team #2 (leaders: Cary & Brenda Miller) will meet on Wednesday, April 17th, at 6:30 pm in the Library for their assignments.
