Annual Chili Cook-off Results
It Was on February 10th, 2013
When We Said:
‘Tis “Chili-Night”!
Delicious thought,
Full of delight!
With spices fraught
From regions
In some foreign lands,
Our foodstuff here
Will sure enhance.
Thus was the thought
Of every cook.
They took a look
In their cook-book,
To find the best
Of spices-mix
That in the end
Success would fix.
The winners were,
I must declare,
A double family affair:
Teri Winnett was # 1,
Son Jonathan, from far had come,
He garnered thus Place # 3;
While in Place # 2
Again we’d see
Bob Foster with good strategy.
We are looking forward to this next event
(whenever it will take place again!) when
once more we will see who excels in
creating this wonderful spicy and fiery concoction.
Our Next Fellowship Meal . . .
. . . is scheduled for next Sunday evening, February 24th, after our evening worship. Hosts & hostesses will be: Bill & Mary K. Flanary, Cary & Brenda Miller, Sherry Wills and Herman Taylor and James & Vicky Williams.
As most of you know, the Hancocks will be leaving our congregation. They will be moving to Burnet to be closer to their daughters. This Fellowship Meal will be dedicated to Sarah and Harold as a special “Thank You and Goodbye” for their work while they were with us, as well as to let them know we are going to miss them greatly! A special gift has been purchased for presentation that evening. Those who want to know just what that is, can talk to Doris, Brenda, or any member of the Ladies Class. For those who want to participate, please give your donations to Paula Welch. Thank you.
Food Pantry Needs!
Besides the constant need for Peanut butter, there are other items that are needed: bath soap, tooth paste and tooth brushes, shampoo, deodorant, dish soap. Also, empty egg cartons and plastic bags are vital. “A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.” – Proverbs 22:9
