Introduction: At 211° water is hot. At 212°, it boils. And with boiling comes steam. Steam can power an engine. An engine that can transport goods all over the world. One degree makes all the difference.
Did you know?
The average margin of victory for the last 25 years in all major golf tournaments was less than three strokes?
The 2008 US Men’s Swimming Relay won the gold medal by .08 of a second? Literally, by a fingertip!
The average margin of victory at the Indy 500 for the last 10 years has been 1.54 seconds? The difference in first and second place? $657,000!
One degree can make all the difference, indeed. Think for a moment what God can do with an extra degree from us, his children. The words of Revelation 3 ring loudly on this subject. God wants our all! He demands it! We in turn will be blessed in so many ways from giving Him our all. Here are three areas where we can apply that extra degree:
212° of ATTITUDE (1 Peter 4:7-11)
The key to having the mind of Christ…
Be Serious and Watchful
Love Each Other Deeply
When you speak, speak the Words of God
Use Your Talents to the Glory of God
Realize, when our Responsibilities grow, our Rights shrink! (John 15:13)
212° of SERVICE (Romans 12:9-13, Ephesian 4:11-12)
God has given us opportunities and the abilities to serve in so many ways! He desires our service. He wants us to serve each other and Him out of love. A love that can show the world that we are His.
The Lord’s Church cannot function without your service!
Make note of the opportunities you’ll have this week to serve.
212° of EVANGELISM (Matt 28:18-20, Acts 4:19-20, Acts 17:6)
2 Timothy 4:2: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
It’s time to stop going to church… and start being the church!
We have a command, a responsibility and the privilege of bringing the Word to the world!
Conclusion: We serve a great God! We cannot begin to imagine all He can do when we give that extra degree in attitude, service, evangelism, or in other ways! Let’s strive to live the 212° lifestyle!
