As a congregation we continue to be blessed to be able to help spread the gospel by supporting those who are studying to preach and teach the word of God. We are fortunate to have Cooper Atkeson and his family with us today during a break week from Sunset International Bible Institute in Lubbock. Cooper is in his second year of the preacher training program. What follows is a brief report from Luyanda Mendziwa whom we are able to help support in preacher training at the South African Bible College. Please remember in prayer all those who are studying to preach the Word. For the elders, Ken D

Dear Brethren,
Last semester was one of the toughest semesters at the college — there was so much to do and learn. One of the toughest subjects I had to do was Hebrew, it would have been less challenging if I had put my mind to it and applied myself more. But thankfully through God’s grace I was able to pass the subject. Learning Greek and Hebrew is a blessing to me because I now can look at the original languages and find a deeper meaning of scripture. Being a third year makes it even tougher because you are looking at the finish line and you have to fully apply yourself also.
IMG_0562We were also blessed as the third years to be able to attend the missionary trip east of the country where we could preach the word to many people and were able to baptize 60 people in three weeks. It was not easy to evangelize to the Elderly because they already have years of loyalty to their denomination. We discovered that more than 80 percent of the people who were baptized were people who were in their youth years. This tells us that the people who were ready to hear the word of God are the youth. We are now approaching the lectureship and approaching towards the end of the year and things will still be tougher but by the grace of God He will be able to carry us through.
My plans for next year are to carry on with the business of selling sneakers while I preach the Gospel to many and I want to carry on with my theological studies but as a part time student in distant learning so I can be able to do my PHD so that I can be able to be a university lecturer. So that I can be able to preach the truth out there because many denominational students are becoming lecturers and further preach false doctrine to the rest of the world.
Thank you for your support. It helps people like me to preach the Gospel.
Luyanda Mendziwa
